Christ the Conqueror

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

~Romans 8:37

The definition of conquer implies that something is “taken” or “seized”. Therefore, stating that we, as Christians, are “more than conquerors” leads me to believe that we are receiving a great reward. We know that is true, because the bible also states that we are joint-heirs with Christ. (Romans 8:17) The follow-up in this verse, however, is that we must suffer with Christ to receive that reward. The thing that amazes me most about this truth is that as our trust in Jesus grows, our faith is made stronger, and it actually becomes easier to suffer.  Why, because we learn to rely on Him as our Strength, our Overcomer, our Conqueror. There are many ways that our Heavenly Father teaches his children to be more like Christ. The list is endless. Countless lessons have been taught to me through my suffering. Looking back on these times when I have felt overwhelmed and broken, I see that I relied completely on the strength of my Savior to win the victory. Suffering will never be easy, but it will always be worth it. When the battle is finally over, we will be able to clearly see our Savior, standing in victory. With Him, we are all more than conquerors!

For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.

~2 Corinthians 1:5 (ESV)

Introducing… Salvation’s Song Ministries!!

Earlier this week, I announced that I would soon have some good news to share. Well, it is time now to reveal the big secret! As many know, I have chosen to devote my music career fully to Christian music. For a long while, I have been praying for direction and asking God to lead me in fulfilling His purpose for my life. In the fall of 2011, I began to feel the need to establish a ministry, not only to share my music with others, but also to use my passion for music to spread God’s love in many ways. Through much prayer and patience, the time has finally come to make it official and I am pleased to announce the birth of Salvation’s Song Ministries!
Salvation’s Song is a non-profit organization with the purpose of “Sharing God’s Love through Song”. In these early stages, there is still much work to do in getting the ministry up and running, but I want to share with you a few ideas and goals for the coming year. One aspect of the ministry will be planning and organizing musical events in which all proceeds will be donated to other charitable organizations. A core value of Salvation’s Song Ministries is to focus on being a blessing to others. By donating to established charities, it is our belief that the proceeds from the events will have a broader reach, therefore, impacting the lives of more people. We will be working in the coming weeks to promote and obtain sponsorship for the 2nd Annual Danny Hiser Memorial Bluegrass Festival, which will be held on May 11, 2013 at the Shady Rest RV Park in Shady Spring, WV. Fellow bluegrass musician Matt Hiser and a group of his family and friends have started the festival in memory of Matt’s father who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in February 2012. Proceeds from this event will benefit pancreatic cancer research. In addition to helping in this manner, I am honored and excited to be a performer at this great event! Also, I have begun planning to host an event in the Bristol, TN/VA area later this year featuring a performance by multi-award winning recording artist Marty Raybon. At this time, it has not been determined what organization this event will benefit, but several options are being considered. This concert will be followed by two more in 2013, with performers being announced at a later date.
Another focus of Salvation’s Song is to help artists with a great desire to serve the Lord be able to expand their ministry. As a recording artist, I have experienced the hard-ship of recording and releasing albums and I know what an expense it can be, especially without the support of a record label. I plan to work with other artists, starting with one or two during the next year to assist in preparing for, recording, and releasing their own Bluegrass Gospel album. This goal will require significant fund-raising; however I am trusting in God for the means to follow through, because with Him, all things are possible. The ministry will begin considering artists to include in this effort in the summer of 2013.
Finally, as part of this ministry, I will continue to sing and write songs for God’s glory. By working to get my new album out to radio and by traveling where I am led to spread the message of love through my music, I hope to touch hearts and change lives with the gift that God has placed in me. I want to use my talent to be a worker for Christ, helping to draw souls to Him and to encourage other Christians on this journey of life. I will be pitching my songs to other artists, not only in Bluegrass Gospel, but also in Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music. God has allowed me to write songs that would have a greater appeal in other genres of music and I want to share them with others in hopes of having a broader impact for the cause of Christ.
In celebration of the official launch of Salvation’s Song Ministries, I am releasing a new single from my album, “In the Waiting”. The song, “Table for Thirteen”, is a re-telling of the story of the Last Supper, with a modern twist. The song was co-written by Jeff Silvey, Kim Williams, and Jeffrey Moseley, whose collective awards and number one hits are far too numerous to mention. “Table for Thirteen” has already been a well-received song since the album’s release in December 2012. For a limited time the song will be available as a FREE DOWNLOAD via ReverbNation. Check it out here: www.reverbnation.com/kelleynelsonmusic . Next week, the ministry will be launching a new website at www.salvationssongministries.org, but for now you can get the latest news, along with inspiring and encouraging posts, and some great music videos at www.facebook.com/salvationssongministries . Please stop by and “like” the page!
Without the support of my wonderful family and friends, none of this would be possible! Therefore, I want to say thank you to my husband, my mom, my in-laws, and all of my family; my church family, all of my friends and everyone who has ever prayed for my music ministry. As you say your prayers today, please take a moment to lift up Salvation’s Song Ministries as we start out on this exciting journey of “Spreading God’s Love through Song”!
Many blessings to you,
Kelley

The Best Thing

I was listening to my favorite Contemporary Christian station a few days ago, KLOVE, when I heard a lucky listener call in to win a CD that was given away.  He was so excited and he said that he and his daughter had been trying to win for days, ever since the contest had begun.  The DJ then asked the man about his daughter… she asked her age, to which the man replied that she was 10 years old. The next question and answer is what really grabbed my attention, and it has stuck with me for days. She questioned the man, “What is the best thing about your daughter?” With zero seconds of hesitation, the man stated, “Everything!! She is the light of our lives!”  What I heard in his voice was unconditional love. The kind of love that a parent has for a child… and the kind of love that God has for his children. I thought about the comment for a long while, and I imagined someone asking God, “What is the best thing about your children?”, to which He would most definitely answer… “Everything!!!” The amazing thing about this, to me, is the fact that I know I am not perfect, not even by a long-shot! But God sees me through his forgiveness as being that way, because the blood of His Son, Jesus, washed away my sins. Therefore, there is nothing that I can do to earn God’s love, He simply gives it to me… because I am His Child.  This love is offered to each and every person, and can be claimed by accepting Christ into your heart and life… What an awesome gift!!!

“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God”

Romans 3:22 – 25 (KJV)

Taking the First Step

Life is full of ‘firsts’… First steps, first day of school, first date, first job, you get the idea. Today, I am having a first. I am writing my first blog. I can almost hear the faint sound of applause somewhere in the back of my mind, along with that little voice that is telling me, “you CAN do this”! In the midst of the applause and the little mini-pep rally inside my head is something else. That evil little thing that always seems to creep in and cause self-doubt. Its’ name is fear. Sure, blogging shouldn’t be that scary, right?? But to me, it is. Perhaps because, when I venture into new territory, I know that I must go in all the way, head-first, no turning back. That is just my personality. Therefore, I understand that starting a blog means that I will bear it all… heart, mind, and soul… facing the possibility of judgement, scrutiny, and whatever else may be thrown at me. But, although I know all of these things are possibilities, I will press on. Why? Because I have a need to share what is in my soul with others, to do my best to be positive and encouraging to anyone that I may pass by on this road of life, and to anyone out there willing to take the time to read what I have to say. To me, that is not a small thing, because you are allowing me into your life… and that means a lot to me.
For those who don’t know me, you can learn more about who I am at my website, http://www.kelleynelsonmusic.com
I look forward to sharing more of me through this blog…. I hope you will join me on this journey!
